Colombia surpassed 3 million foreign tourists in 2018


In the end of the year season, the country will receive more than 1 million international tourists. With the projections of this month, Colombia would have welcomed more than 3,500,000 tourists during this year. Compared to the previous year, in 2018 there was an increase of 9% in international tourism.

Regarding the development of local tourism, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism reported a positive balance during the season. In the projections of the entity, a mobilization of 16 million trips is expected.

Air terminals expect more than 4 million passengers to arrive, while on road trips, the Ministry estimates that more than 12 million vehicles will be mobilized on national roads.

Vice Minister of Tourism, Juan Pablo Franky, highlighted the growth that has occurred in Colombia. He also affirmed that the figures on the boom of international tourism in the country are above the world projections, where the average is located at an increase of 5%.

“Our goal in the four-year period is to grow at an average rate of 12%, to exceed 3.5 million visitors in 2019,” said Franky.
